Installation
Instructions

We will explain how to install
the cap balancer with drawings and videos.

CAP BALANCER is installed by welding the upper hinge to the manhole cover (lid) flange and the lower hinge to the manhole body side flange.

The mounting method differs depending on whether the mounting portion of the CAP BALANCER interferes with or does not interfere with the manhole's fastening bolts, etc.

When the mounting portion does not interfere

AStandard mounting

If the mounting portion of the CAP BALANCER does not interfere with the tightening bolt of the manhole, etc., standard mounting is used.

When the mounting portion does not interfere

BEnd-face mounting

If the lid is light or the flange thickness is sufficiently thick, the CAP BALANCER can be welded to the flange end face only.
If the arm of the CAP BALANCER is to be welded to the flange end face without cutting the arm, cut off the "discard pin" at the end of the arm after installation.
Note that if the CAP BALANCER arm is not cut, the "torque calculation length," the distance from the center of gravity of the manhole cover to the center of the hinge axis of the balancer, will be longer.

When the mounting part interferes

CExtension mounting

If the mounting portion of the CAP BALANCER interferes with the tightening bolt or nut of the manhole, take measures such as extending the arm. Extended mounting increases the distance "torque calculation length" from the center of gravity of the manhole cover to the shaft axis center of the CAP BALANCER, and the torque required to open and close the lid will also increase. When selecting a model of CAP BALANCER, the mounting method should also be considered.

About Swing bolt stopper

If the CAP BALANCER is installed in a position where the swing bolt is sandwiched(Installation Example)、take steps to prevent the swing bolt from collapsing and the washer from slipping off so that the CAP BALANCER will not pinch the bolt or nut when the lid is closed.

inclined mounting

If the manhole is leaning such as when it is on a mirror plate, install the CAP BALANCER at "90° lateral" to the direction of inclination of the manhole. CAP BALANCER can be used for manholes with an inclination angle of 45° or less, assuming that the horizontal top-opening lid has an inclination angle of 0°.
